HABITAT BIRD SKETCHING WALKS--Prep Class and Field Sketching--Sample

Experience a real, personal connection with the spirit of nature in wild birds by a simple process of focused attention to seeing like you’ve never seen before. Then ride the process of discovery. Results often reveals a surprising essence and vitality. Artwork can be framed or used as working studies for paintings, drawings or collages. PROGRAM: (1) Theme Pre-Field Quick Class/Practice; (2) Carpool to Habitat Sketching site with return arrangements; (3) Habitat Sketching: On arrival to the sketching location, as a group, we walk to our first bird sighting and sketch. Then we migrate to our next sighting; and repeat. (4) Wrap-up is a “show and tell,” plus, our Birder Guide comments about birds we saw and we each share related bird arting experiences.

Meet at pre-set, agreed location, either habitat sketching site; or grop meetup meet location and carpool to habitat. Materials $5 per person, or bring a sketchbook or easy mobile materials. Be prepared to walk: shoes, layered clothing, water and snack.

WIRE BIRD SCULPTING WORKSHOP--All-day, or half-day--Sample
Morning: LINE RELIEF SCULPTING: Draw with wire—hand form a relief bird in space without borders.
Afernoon: 3D WIRE SCULPTING using Jonqui’s mesh-molding method without armature. Or, get creative!
Create a flat Wall-hung piece in the morning, and a 3D flying sculpture in the afternoon. You'll be inspired by our live bird model. Previous bird sketching classes will be useful but not necessary. Hour-long lunch break—bring a lunch or grab a bite locally. Tea and snack served. Starting with action drawing demos and exercises, we then create 2D wire line drawing pieces and 3D sculptural forms. You'll create lively indoor/outdoor artwork for your home or garden—and for our culminating exhibition!
